December 2016 News

News from Avonmouth Children’s Centre – December 2016

December is a very busy month here at Avonmouth Children’s Centre. (Not as busy as Father Christmas though!)

Staff Changes

Firstly, we welcome Eliza, our new Early Years Worker. Eliza will be running Sensory Play and also helping Jess in Baby Club. Eliza will be a key person in the nursery on Monday and Friday mornings.

From the New Year we say ‘Good Luck’ to Jenny who is going on adoption leave. Jenny is adopting a little boy and we wish her all the best, the plan is for Jenny to return in the autumn. The Bristol Early Years team are working hard on a plan to cover Jenny, when we know more details we will let everyone know.

Telephone changes

At the start of the New Year, one of our phone lines will be disconnected surplus to requirements; therefore please ensure you call us on our main phone line 0117 9030271, Jamie will then transfer your call to the relevant person.

Christmas Parties

2016’s Christmas Party will be held on December 22nd 1:30pm until 3:30pm. The party will be held during Stay and Play. The Nursery party will take place in the morning during the usual session. Mother Christmas will visit the centre during these parties!

Note for Stay & Play Christmas Party: If you wish Mother Christmas to give your child a present will need to supply it wrapped and with the child’s name on, these gifts must cost less than £5.

Play Tots will be hosting their own Christmas party on Friday 18th of December 10am – 11:30am at the Shirehampton Public Hall. This will be the last Play Tots of the year. Just a reminder that this group is now every Friday!

Christmas Jumper Day

We are supporting ‘Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day’. We welcome all jumpers and Christmas related clothing to any of our events on Friday 16th December. Suggested donations of £1 per family. Your jumper can be as festive or as silly as you wish. “Everyone who takes part will help us solve some very serious problems, so that every last child gets to have a brighter future.” (Save the Children’s website)

Building work

Those of you who have visited the Centre during the last week will have noticed that some builders have moved into our car park. They will be working on site until March building us a small but much needed extension which will primarily be additional room for staff but can facilitate other agencies that use the Centre. If you’re interested in seeing the plans please just ask a member of the team.

Centre Closure

The Centre will be closed during the week between Christmas and New Year. This means the Centre is closed on the following dates: 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of December and the 2nd of January. The Centre will be back open as normal on the 3rd of January 2017.

We hope you have a good holiday and we will see you in the New
